চারিদিকে আজ একই প্রশ্ন, — নেতাজী কোথায়? কেন তাঁহার প্রকাশ হইতেছে না? কেন তিনি আসিয়া দেশের নেতৃত্ব গ্রহণ করিতেছেন না? তবে কি তিনি নাই?
আমরা বলিব তিনি আছেন। ঠিক তোমার আমারই মত আছেন — মর্তভূমিতেই আছেন। তাঁহার কর্ম শেষ হইয়াছে — জড় জগতের কাজ তাঁহার যাহা ছিল, তাহা শেষ হইয়াছে। বিশ্বের শ্রেষ্ঠ বিপ্লবী, বিশ্বের বিস্ময়কর সংগঠনের প্রকাশকে দেখাইয়া, বিশ্বকে চমকিত করিয়া ভারতবর্ষের স্বাধীনতাকে আনিয়া দিয়া তাঁহার কাজ শেষ করিয়াছেন।
আজন্ম সন্ন্যাসী সুভাষচন্দ্র — আজও সন্ন্যাসী। কর্মযোগের সমাপ্তি অন্তে, তাঁহার যোগশ্চর্যা চলিয়াছে — ভারতের কল্যাণে, আত্মিক শক্তির প্রয়োগে। সত্তর বৎসর বয়স্ক নেতাজীর দেহ ভগ্ন, কিন্তু মন ভাঙ্গে নাই। দেহ কাজ করিতে হয়ত অক্ষম — কিন্তু অন্তরের ঐশ্বর্যে-ঐশ্বর্যবান যোগী সুভাষচন্দ্র আজও তাঁহার সমগ্র দিবারাত্রির তপস্যা দিয়া ভারতের কল্যাণ কামনা করিয়া চলিয়াছেন। তাঁহার ইচ্ছাশক্তি গ্রাম হইতে গ্রামান্তরে ব্যাপ্ত হইতেছে। কত প্রতিষ্ঠান গড়িয়া উঠিতেছে ভারতকে গঠন করিবার জন্য কত সঙ্ঘ গড়িয়া উঠিতেছে, জাতিকে শক্তিমান করিবার জন্য — কত শিক্ষা কেন্দ্র নব নব রূপে নেতাজীর আদর্শের পূজায় হইয়াছে অগ্রসর।
লোকচক্ষুর অন্তরালে নীরবে চলিয়াছে মহাযজ্ঞ। এ যজ্ঞে আহুতি পড়িবে দেশের সকল অসত্য, সকল অমঙ্গল। বাহিরে তাঁহার প্রকাশ অপেক্ষা তাঁহার নীরব সাধনা অধিকতর ফলপ্রসু হইবে।
তোমরা বলিবে, “তিনি আসিয়া নেতৃত্ব গ্রহণ করিতেছেন না কেন? তিনি আসিলেই তো তাঁহাকে সকলে নেতৃপদ ছাড়িয়া দিবে।” — ভুল ধারণা তোমাদের। ইহা ধর্মনীতি নয়, রাজনীতি। রাজনীতি রাজতক্ত অধিকারের নীতি। এখানে যেমন করিয়া হউক ছলে-বলে-কৌশলে রাজতক্ত দখল করা — কায়েম করার চেষ্টা। দেখিতেছ না ভারতের প্রদেশে প্রদেশে গদির জন্য কি আত্মঘাতী কলহ চলিয়াছে?
রাজতন্ত অধিকারের জন্য, পুত্র পিতাকে হত্যা করিয়াছে, ভাই-ভাইকে হত্যা করিয়াছে, কত জঘন্য ষড়যন্ত্রের সৃষ্টি হইয়াছে। তোমরা কি দেখ নাই রাজতক্ত লাভের জন্য কেমন করিয়া দেশবিভাগকে স্বীকার করিয়া লইয়াছেন আমাদের বিচক্ষণ নেতৃবৃন্দে? রাজতক্ত লাভের জন্য যাহারা ‘মা’-কে খন্ড বিখন্ড করিতে পারে — তাহারা না করিতে পারে কি?
তোমরা কি দেখ নাই ত্রিপুরী কংগ্রেসের পর সুভাষচন্দ্রকে পদত্যাগে বাধ্য করা হইয়াছিল ওয়েলিংটন স্কোয়ারে? তোমরা কি দেখ নাই — নেতাজীর নামে আজ যে সকল দল জয়ধ্বনি দেয় — তাহারাই একদিন কেমন করিয়া কলিকাতায় প্রকাশ্য রাজপথে নেতাজীর কার্টুনের প্রশেসন বাহির করিয়াছিল? তোমরা কি শোন নাই একদিন পণ্ডিত জওহরলাল বলিয়াছিলেন, “সুভাষচন্দ্র আসিলে তিনি তাঁহাকে প্রতিরোধ করিবেন।” তোমরা কি মহাত্মাজীর বাণীতে শোন নাই যে, “অন্ততঃ সুভাষ দেশের শত্রু নয়।” সীতারামাইয়ার পরাজয়কে গান্ধীজী নিজ পরাজয় বলিয়া ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করিয়াছিলেন।
কত বলিব? যে সুভাষচন্দ্রকে আজ তোমরা চাহিতেছ, সেই সুভাষচন্দ্রকে একদিন এই ভারতের বুক হইতেই “চোরের” মত পলায়ন করিতে হইয়াছিল নিজ সঙ্কল্পকে রূপ দিবার জন্য এবং সেই পুরুষসিংহ ভারতের বাহিরে গিয়া কিভাবে শক্তির প্রকাশ করিয়াছিলেন।
আজ যদি সুভাষচন্দ্র আসেন তোমরা বড় বড় সভা করিবে, ফুলের মালা অবশ্যই প্রচুর দিবে, তাহার পর আজ যাঁহাকে দেবতা বলিয়া পূজা করিতেছ তাঁহার সহিত যখন মতান্তর হইবে ও তাহা মনান্তরে পরিণত হইবে, তখন তোমায় স্বার্থের যূপকাষ্ঠে তাঁহাকে বলি দিবে। তাঁহার গাত্রে চন্দনের পরিবর্তে পঙ্ক নিক্ষেপ করিবে। দেবতাকে দৈত্য বলিয়া গালি দিবে।
সুভাষচন্দ্রকে তোমরা চোর বলিয়াছ, চরিত্রহীন বলিয়াছ, জঘন্য কলঙ্ক দিয়াছ — কিন্তু সুভাষচন্দ্রের অম্লান জ্যোতিপ্রবাহকে রুদ্ধ করিতে পার নাই।
সুভাষচন্দ্র — ভারতের সুভাষচন্দ্র, বিশ্বের বরেণ্য, — নেতাজী। তিনি আছেন — তাঁহার সাধনা চলিয়াছে। সে সাধনায় একদিন আগুন জ্বলিবে — সে আগুনে দেশের সকল অসত্য, অত্যাচার পুড়িয়া ছারখার হইয়া যাইবে।
বিপ্লব শুরু হইয়াছে। কায়েমী স্বার্থবাদীদের মৌরসীপাট্টার কোণে কোণে আগুন জ্বলিয়া উঠিয়াছে। সুভাষচন্দ্রের তেজ বন্হি ঐ হিমালয়ের তুষার শুভ্র গিরিশৃঙ্গ হইতে প্রসারিত হইতেছে। তপোভূমি হিমালয়ের কোন নিভৃত গুহায় মহাঋষি-মহাসাধক-মহাতপস্বী — আগুন জালিয়াছেন। বিরাট শক্তিকেন্দ্র হইতে সকলের অজ্ঞাতে সে শক্তি দিকে দিকে ছুটিয়া আসিতেছে। এখন কঙ্কালে কঙ্কালে সে আগুন জ্বলিয়া উঠিবে। সহস্র সহস্র দধিচির সৃষ্টি হইবে। তাহাদের বুকের পাঁজর দিয়া বজ্র সৃষ্টি হইতেছে। সাবধান!!! — নেতাজী-নেতাজী-নেতাজী তিনবার উচ্চারণ করিয়া দেখ, বিদ্যুৎ প্রবাহ তোমার শরীরকে কম্পিত, চমকিত করিবে, — সুভাষ মন্ত্র একদিন সমগ্র দেশের মধুর বীজমন্ত্র হইবে।
সুভাষচন্দ্র মরেন নাই — নেতাজী মরেন নাই — আমরা তাঁহাকে মারিয়াছি। তাঁহার কর্মজীবনকে শেষ করিবার, কর্ম-প্রবাহকে রুদ্ধ করিয়া রাজনৈতিক স্বার্থসিদ্ধির জন্য বহু অপপ্রচার তাঁহার দেশে থাকাকালে আমরা করিয়াছি। দেশের বাহিরে তাঁহার বিরাট সংগঠনকেও আমরা অস্বীকার করিতে চেষ্টা করিয়াছি, কিন্তু সূর্যকে হাতের আড়াল দিয়া ঢাকা যায় না। সূর্য স্বয়ম্প্রকাশ। দুর্ধর্ষ কেশরী হুঙ্কার দিয়া বাহির হইয়া সব লন্ড-ভণ্ড করিয়া দিল — বৃটিশের হৃৎকম্প হইল। দিকে দিকে বিদ্রোহের আগুন জ্বলিল — ইংরাজ বিদায় লইল। কিন্তু আমরা ইংরাজের নূতন রূপ লইয়া রহিলাম। বিলাতী মদের বোতলে স্বদেশী লেবেল আঁটিয়া দিলাম, পছন্দ না হইলেও দায়ে পড়িয়া জয়হিন্দ বলিলাম, — নেতাজীর জয় বলিলাম।
এখনও ভয়, — পাছে নেতাজী আসিয়া পড়েন। তোমাদের ভয় নাই। নেতাজীর সিংহাসনের লোভ ছিল না, — এখনও নাই। মরজগতের কোন পদে তাঁহার আসক্তি নাই। নিষ্কাম কর্মযোগী — তপস্যারত। ভারতের কল্যাণের জন্য, ভারতের বিজয়ের জন্য দিবারাত্র তাঁহার সাধনা-যজ্ঞ তপশ্চর্যা চলিয়াছে। অপেক্ষা কর — দেখিয়া যাও, অদূর ভবিষ্যতে কোন বিরাট জাগৃতি তোমাদের সামনে নব ভারতের স্রষ্ট্য-রূপে আত্মপ্রকাশ করে।
নেতাজী, নেতাজী, নেতাজী — সামনে না থাকিলেও তিনি আজ নেতৃত্ব করিতেছেন অগণিত শক্তি সাধকের। যাহারা একদিন পুরোভাগে আসিয়া দাঁড়াইবে সেবকরূপে, নিষ্কাম পবিত্র সুন্দররূপে। বৈরাগোর প্রতীকরূপে। তাহাদের গুরুদক্ষিণা হইবে দেশের জন্য সর্বস্বাহূতি, দেশের জন্য ধন, মন, তন-সমর্পণ — সেই বিরাট শক্তিধর সেবকরাই পরিচালনা করিবে ভারতবর্ষকে — গড়িয়া তুলিবে নূতন ভারতবর্ষ।
নীরব সাধনা চলিয়াছে — চলিবে। তোমাদের চিন্তার কারণ নাই — ‘সুভাষচন্দ্র তোমাদের রাজতক্ত ছিনাইয়া লইতে আসিবেন না।’ — তিনি তাহার অপেক্ষা বহু কোটি গুণ, যাহার সংখ্যা নাই, তুলনা নাই, — সেই মহান সম্পদে সম্পদশালী। রাজতক্ত তাঁহার নিকট তুচ্ছ।

NETAJI
SWAMI ASIMANANDA SARASWATI, 23 JANUARY 1965.
(This is an attempted translation of the original text which is in Bengali.)
All around, the same question is being asked today, — where is Netaji? Why is he not revealing himself? Why is not he coming out and accepting the leadership of the country? Is he not alive, then?
We will say that he is alive. He is there just like you and me — very much in this earthly planet. His ‘Karma’ is over — whatever work he was assigned to in the material world, is accomplished. The greatest revolutionary in the world, has accomplished his work by demonstrating to the whole universe the manifestation of his wonderful organisational ability, and dazzling the world by winning India’s freedom.
Subhas Chandra — a life-long ascetic — continues to be a Sannyasi even today. After the fulfilment of his Karma, his Yoga practice is continuing for the welfare of India, in exercise of his spiritual power. Seventy-year-old Netaji’s body is impaired, but his spirit remains intact. His body is probably unable to exert like before — but with the richness of his inner light — the marvellous Yogi, Subhaschandra, continues to seek the welfare and prosperity of India through his day and night’s ‘tapasya’. His willpower is pervading from village to village. So many institutions are being set up, so many associations are being moulded to develop India, to make the nation stronger — so many educational centres are being modelled in new format towards the fulfilment of the worship of Netaji’s ideals.
The great ‘Mahajajna’ [महायज्ञ] is going on in hushed silence behind the public eye. All the untruths and the evils of the country will be offered to the fire of this ‘yajna’. His silent arduous ascetic endeavour will be more fruitful than his own physical manifestation.
You would say, “Why does he not come out and take charge of the leadership? Everyone would relinquish leadership in his favour if he comes out.” — You have a mistaken notion. It’s not the rules of religion but, it’s a political power struggle. Politics is the statecraft of seizing power to reign. As is done in this field, it is an attempt to seize the seat of power by mischievous deceit, by force or by trickery or deception. Don’t you see that there is an ongoing suicidal conflict in the states of India for acquiring political power?
For the sake of getting political power, the son has killed the father, brother has killed his brother; how many such horrible intrigues have been perpetrated. Have you not observed how our wily leaders had accepted the partition of the motherland for gaining the seat of power to reign over [India]? Those who can vivisect the ‘motherland’ for gaining the seat of power [throne], what can they not do?
Did you not witness that Subhaschandra was forced to resign at Wellington Square [Calcutta, during the AICC session of April 1939] after the Tripuri Congress? Have you not seen – all the parties who shout victory in Netaji’s name today – how one day they themselves took out procession of cartoons of Netaji in the public streets of Calcutta? Have you not heard that once Pandit Jawaharlal had declared: ‘When Subhaschandra comes back, he (Jawaharlal) would confront him’ ? Have you not heard in the words of Mahatmaji that ‘After all Subhas [Babu] is not an enemy of the country’? Gandhiji had expressed his distress [against Subhas Chandra Bose] by calling Sitaramaiah’s defeat as his own defeat.
How much should I say? The Subhaschandra that you want today, that very Subhaschandra had to escape one day like a “thief” from the bossom of [the subjugated] Mother India to pursue his strategy and how that lionheart went outside India and exhibited the manifestation of his power.
If Subhaschandra comes today [in the open], you will organise mammoth rallies, will offer him garlands of flowers in abundance, and after that, when there will be a difference of opinion with the one [Netaji] whom you are worshiping today, as a God, and that would lead to bad blood, and would turn into a change of mind, you would then immolate him in the guillotine of your selfishness. Instead of sandalwood, you would throw mud at him. You will abuse the God as a monster.
You have labelled Subhaschandra as a thief, you have dubbed him as characterless, you have stigmatised him — but you have not been able to block out Subhaschandra’s unfading aura.
Subhaschandra — India’s Subhaschandra, is the world-renowned Netaji. He is very much alive — his arduous ascetic practice is ongoing. One day, a fire will be ignited due to that ‘Sadhana’
[ascetic pursuit] and all the lies and the tyranny of the country will be burnt to ashes and damned in that fire.
The revolution has commenced. The fire is ablaze in all corners of the hereditary exploits of those having vested interests. The fiery glow of Subhaschandra is radiating from the snow-white peaks of the Himalayas. The great sage, the holy Rishi, the pre-eminent hermit has ignited the fire in some secret cave of the sacred land of asceticism in the Himalayas. From that great energy source is emanating the great power without anyone’s knowledge in all directions. Now that fire will spread skeleton to skeleton. Thousands and thousands of Dadhichis will be forged. Thunderbolt [Vajra — the weapon of Indra] will then be created from the ribs of them [the Dadhichis]. Be careful!!! Pronounce the name: Netaji-Netaji-Netaji three times and observe the electricity so generated will make your body vibrate and startle, the Subhas-Mantra will one day turn into the sweet seed mantra (Beej Mantra) of the whole nation.
Subhaschandra has not died — Netaji is not dead — we have killed him. During his stay in the country, we have done a lot of distorted propaganda to end his career, to thwart the flow of his work for the selfish realisation of our own political interests. We have tried to deny his big organisation outside the country; but the sun cannot be concealed with the cover of the palm. The sun is ablaze and incandescent. The ferocious lion came out with a roar and routed everything around — the heart of the British trembled. The fire of the rebellion started burning everywhere — the British were compelled to leave. But we adopted the new form of Englishmen. We stuck the swadeshi label on the bottle of foreign liquor, even if we didn’t like it, we uttered Jai Hind out of compulsion, — [even] said Jai Netaji [reluctantly].
Still they fear, — lest Netaji reappear. You have nothing to be afraid of. Netaji did never crave for the throne, — he doesn’t covet it even now. He has no attachment to any position of this mortal world. He is a Nishkam Karmayogi — a practising ascetic. His sadhana-yajna is going on day and night for the welfare of India, for the glory of India. Wait — see, in the near future some great awakening is going to manifest itself before you in the form of a New India.
Netaji, Netaji, Netaji — Even if he is not in front, he is leading countless Shakti Sadhaks today. They will one day come to the fore as servants, in pure and beautiful form. As symbols of renunciation [Bairago]. Their Gurudakshina will be self-sacrifice for the country; offering their wealth, mind and body for the motherland. Only those great powerful servants will manage India – build the new India.
The silent pursuit is going on. You have no reason to worry — ‘Subhaschandra will not appear to snatch your throne.’ He is — many million times more, which has no number, no comparison, — rich with greater wealth than it [the throne]. The seat of power [the throne] is insignificant to him.
